80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor commemoration

The Italian American War Veterans and the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7 at Navy Pier. The ceremony will take place at 7:55 a.m., the moment of the 1941 attack that catapulted the United States into World War II. The solemn commemoration will include an honor guard and a Navy bugler playing “Taps,” after which a wreath will be cast upon the surface of Lake Michigan from the east end of the pier. The event is free and open to the public.
