Celebrate African-American bravery at the Italian American Veterans Museum

1-5 p.m., Sunday, July 31

Italian American Veterans Museum
Third Floor • Office Center • Casa Italia
3800 Division St. • Stone Park

Americans of color have fought bravely for their country in every war from the American Revolution to the present, but that story has only recently been told in movies like “Glory” and books like “Strength for the Fight.” Today, those tales of valor are being celebrated across the Chicago area, thanks to History on Wheels.

A groundbreaking mobile museum that showcases a proud legacy of AfricanAmerican courage, HOW hosts re-enactments, exhibits, and presentations wherever and whenever duty calls. The museum is the brainchild of Luther Johnson, a renowned authority and frequent speaker on the subject.

Johnson and his museum will make a stop on July 31 at the Italian American Veterans Museum in Stone Park, where their exhibit and presentation will shed light on a compelling dimension of our military history.

Both museums will be open from 1-5 p.m., and Johnson will give his presentation at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served throughout the day.

No reservations are necessary to visit the museums, but seating for Johnson’s presentation is extremely limited and reservations are a must. To make your reservations, contact 708-338-0690 or info@franoi.com and leave your name, phone number and the number of people in your party.
